Leadership is important. We trust Jesus, the head of the church. This truth is the beginning of a leadership culture. Jesus is the head of the church. All other leadership roles are ways to serve under his leadership. We see volunteers and paid staff as a leadership team that embraces the mission that Jesus has called the church to engage. Here are some of the key leaders at this early stage of the Arbor Alliance Church.

Doug Swinburne

Doug Swinburne serves as the founding pastor. Two branches of this leadership role are, 1) Setting the stage for a healthy, Christ-centered culture and 2) Caring for people from a heart that loves God. Doug is married to Donna and they serve together with a sense of thankful joy. They have 3 married daughters and 6 granddaughters. Doug has served in two churches in Northern California and one in Utah, but for the past 12 years he was the District Superintendent for Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in Northern California, Nevada, Utah and Hawaii. Though rewarding, he and Donna are thrilled with this return to a local church and Napa as their hometown.

Joe Ellison

Worship and Music Arts

Joe Ellison helps everyone worship Jesus by combining musical skill with the right heart. Joe is married to Jenny and they have two children. Joe started leading worship at his home church when he was 17 years old. Now he also leads his band “Run With Patience”, a Bluesy/Rock band that communicates a musical gospel. Joe has a degree in music from Point Loma Nazarene University. His leadership brings depth from experience that includes musical missions in Eastern Europe.

Becky Serna

Children's Church

Becky Serna serves as the Children’s Ministry Leader. She brings training and experience, but what we value most is her heart for children and the skill that matches her heart. Children love Becky and parents do too.

Evan Darlington

Sound and Technology

Evan Darlington leads sound and technology. This is a vital ministry for the Arbor Alliance Church that Evan leads with skill even as he fosters teamwork. He also carries a heart for Middle School students. Evan teaches History and Bible at First Christian School and is currently completing a Master’s Degree in History. Evan is married to Emily and is father to Jacob.
